Pat Gilroy has named his starting fifteen for the match at Ballina on Sunday and it’s one that shows three changes in personnel and a few positional switches compared to the one that started against Derry last weekend. Michael Savage starts instead of Stephen Cluxton in goal, Bryan Cullen comes in for James Brogan in the half-backs and he’ll also captain the Dublin team for the day and Declan Lally starts at left-half forward with David Henry reverting to his more normal corner-back spot in place of Paddy Andrews. Here’s the Dubs’ line-up in full:
Dublin (NFL Division 1 v Mayo, 22/3/2009): Michael Savage; David Henry, Denis Bastick, Alan Hubbard; Bryan Cullen, Ger Brennan, Barry Cahill; Ciaran Whelan, Ross McConnell; Diarmuid Connolly, Kevin Bonner, Declan Lally; Blaine Kelly, Conal Keaney, Bernard Brogan.
We won’t, of course, be announcing our starting fifteen until the day itself and, the way things are going, I reckon that it could be after the final whistle has sounded before we do so.
Liam O’Malley marking Bernard Brogan. I shudder to think how many goal chances will be gifted to the young Dub
I’ve been reasonably impressed with our backs over the past 2 games. No goals conceded. Think back to last year and we had goals flying in all over the place against us. Pity we’ll be missing the U21 contingent though (oh God, I’m starting to sound like JOM now….)
The Dubs have a good chance of hitting a decent score against us (it’s simply the attacking way they play), but I fancy us to hit a higher score against them. Their backs have been terrible so far this league campaign, their performance against Derry was as bad as I’ve seen in a long time. Mayo by 5
I reckon, Austie could have a good one on that Denis Bastick, he’s not up to much – where is heaney and the two higgins’ when are they back ?
exactly where is david heaney does anybody know?at the best of times dublin are poor, they really are poor, should be a reasonably easy 2 points
Dont underestimate Bastick-he had a fine game against tyrone up to the last few minutes. Someone said that our full forward line in Charlestown was Austin & two mascots . We need a few big men. Hopefully Pat Harte plays on sunday.
