Three-in-a-row for Tooreen

Time for a quick mention for the hurlers of Tooreen who this afternoon completed a three-in-a-row of Mayo SHC titles. They beat Ballyhaunis in today’s TJ Tyrell Cup decider by 0-13 to 0-8 to claim their 33rd county title. Mike Finnerty’s report on the match for RTÉ is here and match highlights are here.

Also this afternoon St Ciarán’s won their first ever adult title when they got the better of Castlebar Mitchels in the Mayo SHC ‘B’ final at Westport. An amalgamation of seven clubs – Ballina, Gaeltacht Iorrais, Ballyvary, Claremorris, Caiseal Gaels, Westport and Moytura – St Ciarán’s won today’s final by 0-20 to 1-15.
