Tom Parsons appointed as CEO of the GPA

It was announced earlier on today that ex-Mayo footballer Tom Parsons has been appointed as the new Chief Executive of the Gaelic Players Association.

Tom has been involved with the GPA for some time, having been a member of its National Executive Committee since 2017 and its Board for the past two years. In recent times the popular Charlestown man has chaired the GPA’s National Executive and, following the merger with the WGPA, he has co-chaired the Executive with Maria Kinsella.

As well as playing at the highest level for his county – he lined out at midfield for us in the All-Ireland finals in 2016 (both games) and 2017 – Tom has, of course, direct personal experience of battling back from the extremely serious injury he suffered in 2018. As a result, he knows plenty about the highs, the lows and the many challenges that inter-county players can face over the course of their careers.

The official announcement of Tom’s appointment as CEO of the GPA is here. The very best of luck to him as he takes on this important position.

  1. Congrats Tom! Is the game tomorrow on GAAGO, I paid the 25 quid for all games and can’t see it on the ap !! Hopefully it’s on GAAGO and not another subscription channel….

  2. Congrats Tom , I am sure that you will bring the same grace dedication and efficiency to your new high powered job as your application on the football field.
Tom for your service to Mayo football, you deserve all the best for you and your wife in the future.

  3. Thanks for providing a wonderful service, WillieJoe, to us who live outside the county.
I don’t have eir so anybody have any ideas on how I might see game live?

  4. Congratulations and best wishes to you Tom. It is great to see a good decent and brave man getting his just reward. Up Mayo

  5. Not sure if this is appropriate info but if you don’t have eir and want to watch them you need GAAGO to believe you’re in the Uk to buy a pass. You’ll need a vpn for that and set it so that it’s running through a server in the Uk.

  6. Congrats Tom on this prestigious appointment a great Ambassador for Mayo .Well done

  7. Congratulations Tom and know you will give the same dedication as you did on the field.

  8. Thanks FDBinashui for that information. Will try that now.
Well done Tom. A credit to himself and his family.

  9. Congrats to Tom on his appointment which has been well flagged by GAA correspondents. Tom has of course been vocal on the GPA’s importance to him during his playing career and not just during his comparatively recent injury so I expect that he will deliver for all players.
