Excitement is mounting in Tooreen, as well as across Aghamore parish more generally, ahead of next month’s All-Ireland Intermediate hurling final. The biggest game in the club’s history is set for Croke Park on Saturday, 14th January, and in it Tooreen are up against Monaleen of Limerick. This All-Ireland decider will be played under the lights at HQ, where throw-in is 7pm.
Tooreen launched a ‘Road to Croker’ fundraising drive a few weeks back, with the aim of ensuring that the team have everything they need for the big game. Last night, at Eileen’s Bar in Aghamore, there was a traditional Irish music night and tonight, just across the road in Moran’s Village Inn, Aghamore GAA club are hosting a fundraising table quiz, the proceeds of which are being generously donated to Tooreen’s fund.
The table quiz gets underway at Moran’s tonight at 9pm – further details on it are here. Tables of four cost €40 and there will be loads of prizes on the night.
If you’d like to support Tooreen’s ‘Road to Croker’ appeal but can’t make it to tonight’s event then you can also provide a donation online. The link for that is here.
Fair play to you WJ for the coverage. These lads deserve our support and hopefully in 2 weeks time in Croker they will get support from all over the county!
Thanks Puckout – they sure do deserve all the support they get. They’re doing the parish and the whole county proud.
The county board need to really use this as an opportunity to promote hurling within the county and start putting a longer term strategy in place.. The focus needs to be on the tooreen club and how it developed as an example to others rather than tha match result which realistically tooreen will do well to stay competitive in…
All the best to Tooreen from a fan of the small ball in a football-mad part of the county.
