Tyrone NFL review – Mayo News football podcast 2020 E30

Mayo have come out the right side of several dramatic final round games in the National League in recent years. On the law of averages, it had to be the case that one day the county’s luck would run out and that day was yesterday as a brave comeback against Tyrone came up just short and so, after 23 years, Mayo have been relegated from Division One.

In this episode of the Mayo News football podcast we review yesterday’s dramatic Round 7 encounter behind closed doors at MacHale Park. Rob Murphy is joined at the venue by Mayo News duo Mike Finnerty and Ger Flanagan to describe how Mayo’s top tier status slipped away as the team fell to an agonising one-point defeat to Tyrone.

John Casey and Stephen Rochford then join the lads to assess what the defeat and relegation mean for Mayo and to look ahead to the Championship campaign that gets going next weekend. We also hear post-game reaction from James Horan.
