A bit like the Oireachtas last night, the County Board convened in emergency session yesterday evening but, in the Board’s case, it was simply a common or garden EGM which was required in order to complete the formalities of electing Bonniconlon’s Vincent Neary to the position of Secretary in succession to Kevin O’Toole. At the same meeting, Padraig Staunton from Moygownagh was elected as the Board’s delegate to the Connacht Council. Congrats to both and best wishes in their respective endeavours.
No further word as yet – in terms of team line-ups and the like – about Sunday’s league clash with Tyrone. I’m travelling later on this evening, back late tomorrow night, so if there’s any team news in the meantime I’m unlikely to pick up on it until after I get back. Which makes it as good a time as any, I guess, for a poll on how you think Sunday’s match will go:
How will we do against Tyrone?
- Win (75%, 42 Votes)
- Draw (14%, 8 Votes)
- Lose (11%, 6 Votes)
Total Voters: 56

Tyrone fans I know don’t feel like they’ll be beating us in Castlebar, but they could just be being their pessimistic selves :p
Watched all of the Tyrone v Down league match on Setanta last night and I have to say, it was the scrappiest affair I’ve seen in a long time. Fair to say conditions were’t ideal, but Tyrone made it clear from the off, they weren’t interested in an open game of football, on the contrary, they hunted in packs and squeezed the life out of Down at every opportunity.
The game wasn’t helped either by a very weak Ref, who struggled to keep control on affairs. One thing for sure though, this Tyrone team is a very physical and hungry outfit and will take some beating. All makes for a very close match on Sunday with Mayo shading it by maybe 2 points …..
mayo win for me , be surprised if we dont edge this one
Will be a tougher match than Kerry. Would still expect us to win by 3/4 points. Set us up nicely in division 1.
wont be a good game. tyrone will come to spoil. kerry played ball last week despite being over run at times. watched down and tyrone, it was puke football, the ref could not nothing about it at all, both teams were guilty.
Lets congratulate the new Secretary and wish him well and a long stay in the job. He has a vast experience in administration.
