Time to reveal what’s happened with the Setanta competition and the mini-league arising from the weekend’s results.
First, the Setanta competition where this week’s winner is Paul McCaffrey. Paul wins the weekly prize of a copy of Breandán Ó hEithir’s wonderful book Over The Bar and his name also goes into the hat for the overall prize of a year’s subscription to Setanta Sports via satellite.
Next, it’s the mini-league where, with the midpoint in the campaign now behind us, it appears to be developing into a straight shootout between yengae and myself. He’s still got the upper hand as we head into Round 5 this coming weekend but there’s now a bit of daylight between the two of us and the chasing pack, which is headed by Yew Tree who has moved up from fifth to third.
With three full rounds of Division One and Two matches to come, there’s still time for someone to make a charge from the pack and claim the spoils but anyone minded to do so would need to start getting a move on and will also need to nail a few less than obvious results from amongst the remaining fixtures. In this respect, could a Mayo win this coming Sunday over a Bernard Brogan-less Dublin be one for starters?
