Westmeath challenge next weekend + club championship action

This is just a quick one to confirm that there’s a challenge match against Westmeath – who are already out of the running in Leinster, having been felled by a late, late Louth winning goal last Sunday – scheduled for tomorrow week (June 3rd) in Ballaghaderreen where throw-in has been set for 4pm. The match will form the centrepiece of the official reopening of the club’s pitch and there should be further information over the coming days on what else is planned for the official reopening tomorrow week at the club.

There’s a whole raft of club championship matches on tomorrow but, from what I can see on Twitter, the results of the matches that were played earlier on today were as follows:

SFC: Castlebar Mitchels 1-13, Kiltane 1-8; Garrymore 1-6, Aghamore 1-4.

IFC: Hollymount-Carramore 2-14 Mayo Gaels 1-9; Bonniconlon 2-9, Kilmaine 0-9.
Parke 0-9, Ballyhaunis 0-7.

Thanks to @maighforsam, @p_cunnane, @ColmGannon, @edmcgreal, @GarrymoreGAA, @Holly_CarraGaa, @mayogaelsgaa and @kilmainegaa for all the score updates from the above matches.

  1. Was at that Louth-Westmeath match, which Westmeath were very unlucky to lose. John Heslin is a big threat at midfield – he shoots from everywhere and got 4 points from play that day. Their backline is suspect for goals though – hopefully we’ll use the opportunity to practice running at the full back line, for we need more goals.

  2. I agree .I heard from a former Louth player/manager that westmeath should have won the game well.It should be a good challenge for us & keep us in tune for our first game.It really has been a boring championship so far & RTE are not helping by showing dead end games like Kerry v tipp.
