Winning start for minors

The minors opened their Connacht championship campaign earlier this evening with a very welcome win, beating the Rossies by 0-12 to 0-8 in McHale Park.  Galway edged out Sligo 0-11 to 0-9 in the other match and so Mayo now face Sligo in the semi-finals with Galway playing Roscommon in the other one.  I’ve no further details on our match (the need to visit a relative in hospital plus a First Communion party on the road has had me out of commission for the past number of hours) but there’s a post about the Sligo-Galway game on this thread at gaaboard.com.  My thanks to the board and to Mayofans.com for posting the result of tonight’s matches so promptly.  Aertel is, of course, still in a state of blissful ignorance about this evening’s minor action in Connacht.

  1. Was a good start for the minors last night especially against a side that had two games under their belts already. But it was far from convincing, Mayo only really played in patches and let Ross’ back into the game at times a few times easily before having to pick it up again. The best for Mayo in my opinion were Hennelly in goal very solid and good kick out. Kevin Keane a full back, not the most astethecially pleasing of a player but pure no nonscence defending when needed. O’Shea showed flashes of the quality he has, Cafferty was also good in the middle while the two corner forwards O’Hara and Walsh were each excellent in a half each
